Dr. Hassan Charaf was born in Machghara , Lebanon, in 1967. He came to Hungary in 1987 to study at the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the Technical University of Budapest and received his MSc degree in 1992, and later on his PhD degree in 1998 for submitting his theses entitled “System identification using neural networks”. Meanwhile he also earned an MSc degree in Economics at the Budapest University of Economics. Presently he is an associate professor at the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics of the Technical University of Budapest, where he is the head of the IT Group. As an outstanding figure in teaching, research and development he is in key positions at several organizations at the university: IT manager of Knowledge Centers, as well as head of the Committee of Informatics.
The most important milestones in his professional carrier: Highest Impact on IT Sector Fellow (2009) offered by itBusiness, ICT IBM Faculty Award (2008, 2004), IT Trainer of the year in Informatics (2003) offered by The Hungarian Chief Information Officers’ Association, Pannon GSM professorship (2000-2002), “Master Teacher” award of the Hungarian Republic (2001), Bolyai János professorship (1998-2001), Best Instructor for the Students’ Scientific Contest (1999).
Dr. Hassan Charaf has played a leading role in setting up research and development projects with NOKIA Hungary and NOKIA Finland, Nokia Siemens Networks, T-Mobile, Microsoft Hungary. He is the author of several books and lecture notes
