Hassan Awada : the doctor and the judge

Hassan Awada earned his law degree from Saint Joseph University in Beirut in 1946, then went on to pursue a diploma in criminology and political economy law from the University of Paris, finally receiving his PHD in law from the University of Paris in France in 1950.

He was a judge at the Court of Appeal from 1951 to 1953, and at the Revenue Court from 1953 to 1959. He then became the General Treasury Inspector from 1959 to 1972.

Hassan Awada rejoined the Beirut Bar Association in 1972. In the 1980s, he contributed to the drafting of many Lebanese laws, such as the Construction Law and the Common Property Law.

Throughout his career, Hassan Awada was the legal counsel for many prominent companies and associations. Alongside Adolphe Tyan, he was the legal counsel of the Lebanese Pilots’ Syndicate for over 30 years. He was also, with Adolphe Tyan, the legal counsel for the national television station of Lebanon and two major Lebanese newspapers.

In addition to working as an attorney at Awada Tyan Law Firm, Hassan Awada was a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Lebanese University from 1955, and a professor at the National School of Administration in Beirut.

In 2014, he became the Head of the Disciplinary Board at the Beirut Bar Association.

Throughout his career, Hassan Awada wrote many books and was published on many occasions in law journals.

Hassan Awada continued to be an active lawyer at the firm until his passing in September 2019.
